In case you didn't know, LaVoz was (and still is) a popular online newsletter founded by Johnny Johnson that promoted all things salsa. Several instructors, performers, and musicians were interviewed and submitted articles for consumption by the global Latin dance community. This past summer, the newsletter was made into a full-fledged magazine! Being from Chicago, the founder decided to release the Winter issue here in his hometown and simultaneously celebrate the development of the Chicago salsa scene. If you're a hardcore salsero or just beginning, be sure to be a part of this major accomplishment and show your support for a growing enterprise. To read more about the magazine and to order a subscription, visit the website of LaVoz Magazine here. The event weekend, which began with a pre-party at Images on Friday, November 24, featured workshops on Saturday with some of salsa's top instructors: Magna Gopal (Toronto/NY), Ana and Joel Massicot (Boston), Gordon Neil (Atlanta), and Betto Herrera (North Carolina). After the nearly sold out workshops were over, the real fun began! The party that night at the Society for the Arts was off the hook with special guests from all around the country and beyond. Check out the clips of the awesome performances below that brought really brought the house down! Performance Clips
