Events The Dance Stars of Chicago

On January 27th, 2006, Nancy Hays hosted "Dancing at the Drake with the Dance Stars of Chicago", a spectacular event that was well-attended and very much enjoyed by all.

The event had a little something for everyone--dinner, dance lessons, performances by professional and amateur dance companies, open dancing, and a live orchestra playing excellent and elegant music all night long!

The evening began at 6:30pm with an optional lesson in various ballroom dances. The audience was encouraged to get out of their seats and participate in the class...and they definitely did not have a problem with that! The night was off to a great start with good food, great dancing, and high spirits.

As the guests ate dinner, they were able to enjoy the wonderful sounds of Nancy Hays singing with the Robert Benson Orchestra. They performed various fully-orchestrated arrangements of swing, foxtrot, waltz, mambo, and much more, all specifically arranged for ballroom dancing.

After a series of classic songs from the orchestra, it was time for the performances, which were done in two separate acts. The first act was comprised of several ballroom competitive dance couples as well as other Chicago-area dance teams.

The second act also featured more competitive dancers and professional instructors, but also had some dance exhibitions by youth teams and couples. We performed in this second act and got a great audience response!
