The performances that night were excellent, featuring the Chicago Collaboration as well as an award for the Mambo King, Eddie Torres. After being thanked for his contributions to the world of dance, he gave a very passionate speech that really moved all of us. Later that night, Adalberto Santiago played his set and was again accompanied by guest musicians Jimmy and Alfredo. DJ Carlos "Salsero" Latilladi also spun only the best that night and we're very proud to have DJ's like him here in Chicago! He's always got new music on every set and has so much knowledge and passion for Latin music. Have a conversation with him one day if you can. Finally...a break! Sunday was our "day off" and we didn't have any tech rehearsals or performances to prepare for. We were able to sit back, relax, and also break out the video camera to capture some of the Chicago congress action.
We managed to capture part of their performance, which we'll post soon. We also caught a bunch of social dancing while the band was playing. Check out our media gallery to see some salseras and salseros throwin' it down! We'd like to send out a big THANK YOU to Rosita, Saladeen, Gloria, Lisa, Gina, Maggie, Roberto, Juho, the entire Cultural Expressions crew, and all of the volunteers and sponsors that made this event happen. A special thanks also to Maria Torres for coming down and sharing her experience and creative ideas with us. Already looking forward to next year...
