Events Mambo Tribe Debut Weekend 2006

Carlos,Micah,Christine / Kathy and AngieOn Saturday morning, we woke up to a tasty treat! Angie and Mark-Anthony made a delicious French toast breakfast which was followed by a few hours of sitting around the table enjoying some very hilarious conversation!

We then relaxed a little more and watched some videos of the Canada Salsa Congress, which is held every October in Toronto. However, it was then a few hours until the performances, so we figured we'd get a little practice time in. So, we ran through our routine a few times, cleaned a few things, and we were good to go!

When we arrived at the spot, we did a short tech rehearsal to get used to the floor and then performed it a few hours later during the party. The crowed seemed to really like the piece...fast footwork and crazy turn patterns must really turn salseros on!

After that, it was time for the big moment...Mambo Tribe's new routine, choreographed by Magna Gopal. They followed us, closed the show, and brought the house down! To view their performance and numerous other video clips, visit our media gallery of the event!

After the performances, we got back on the dance floor and danced the night away to the sounds of DJ MAS and DJ Nelson and eventually made it back to Mark-Anthony and Angie's place to catch a few Z's.

On Sunday, we had a chance to lounge around and do some shopping in downtown Toronto. While we were wandering around the huge mall, we were able to secretly purchase a Thank You card for Mark-Anthony and Angie for being such great hosts throughout the weekend!

Later that night, we hit up Mambo Tribe's bi-weekly Salsa Social and were able to dance with more of the Toronto salsa dancers. We were delighted to be able to meet, dance, and hang out with all of the different dancers from around the city!

All in all, it was a great trip! Toronto has a thriving and growing dance scene with many wonderful people and dancers. If you're ever up for taking a road trip, we definitely recommend checking out this beautiful city! Thanks to Mark-Anthony, Angie, all of the Mambo Tribe dancers, and all the Canadian salseros(as) for showing us such a good time!
