Events Mambo Tribe Debut Weekend 2006

Toronto Crew / Micah and JesseOn April 1st, 2006, Mark-Anthony and Mambo Tribe of Toronto presented their new choreography for the year and featured Mambofodadáz as guest performers. We had always heard great things about the salsa/mambo scene in Canada, but now we got to experience it first hand!

This event was a little different and we got the opportunity to take a road trip! And after the usual harassment from the border patrol (gotta protect your country, right?), it was smooth sailing from there. Oh and by the way, if you ever drive to Canada, make sure you take note that speed limits are measured in kilometers per hour!

When we arrived, we met up with Mark-Anthony and headed back to his place to freshen up, change, and then hit the club! You didn't think a little 9-hour drive into Toronto would make us too tired to go dancing did you?

We then went out to the salsa club that Friday night and got a chance to meet a lot of salseros(as) in the Toronto scene. We found everyone there to be very nice and considerate people, which is definitely not something you find everywhere you go.

Arturo and Corie / Kathy and AndyWhile there, we also ran into a few more members of the Mambo Tribe team--Anthony, Trionne, and Young--which was great since we hadn't seen them in a couple of months.

Throughout the night, we had some great dances together and with all of the other salsa addicts there. We also got to observe a lot, and found that the leads up ther are extremely smooth and creative and the follows are graceful and light as a feather.

As the night came to an end, we had fun mingling with the Canadian dancers and getting some of their thoughts and insights on the scene and dancing in general...some interesting stuff!

We finally headed back to Mark-Anthony's place to get some sleep and prepare for Saturday's performances...
