Events Bayou City Mambo 2006

On the way to our workshop on Saturday afternoon, we ran into some construction which caused us to get a little bit lost. We arrived a few minutes late to our workshop, but everything still worked out just fine.

The class topic was "Men's Footwork on2", so we taught some quick steps that were pretty easy to pick up and then moved into some more tricky combos, one with more body isolation and one focusing on intricate footwork. The workshop went well; we even attracted a few ladies (Hey Adriana and Marion) to come and dance with us!

After our workshop, we had a chance to chat with Carlos, Azucena, and Daniel of Jazzy Dance Co., which was very nice because we hadn't seen them since September. They also have a cool new product out called "Salsa Grooves", which is software that allows you to hear, feel, and understand the structure of salsa/mambo music on a deeper level. Later that night, round two of the performances happened. This time, we performed our "Snap" routine and closed the show on Saturday night. The crowd was very appreciative of our routine and we would like to thank everyone for your encouraging words and compliments.

With that out of the way, we got back to social dancing to the beautiful lineup of music, once again played by DJ iPod and his 'assistants'.

We are very glad to have been a part of this event and to have met so many great dancers in Bayou City!

A big THANKS to Ruby (Thanks for the cha cha!), Hector, Gabe, Ivona, Mario B (Ojala que no!), Magna, Griselle, Reina, Brad, Marion, Adriana, Derek, Maria, Troy, Jorjet, Lee, Suzie Q, Mara, Denise, Cid, Oscar, Daniel, Carlos, Azucena, Lisa, Mitch, Ike, Trish, Don, anyone we forgot, and of course Mr. Jerome Carter. Thank you all for making this event unforgettable! We hope to see you all again soon, whether in Texas or elsewhere.
